• In accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:14A-8(b) and The Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority 1958 Bond Resolution, the owner or occupant of any property which shall connect to the system of the Authority shall be charged a fee to represent a fair payment towards the cost of the system.

• In accordance with said statute, such fair payment shall be, in addition to periodic service charges, a separate charge in the nature of a Connection Fee with respect to each connection of any property which will discharge to the facilities of the Authority, which fee shall be imposed upon the owner or occupant of the property connected.

• The Connection fee set forth shall be recomputed in each fiscal year of the Authority, and, following a Public Hearing in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40:14A-8(c) shall be revised to reflect the recomputed Connection Fee which shall thereafter be imposed in accordance with N.J.S.A. 40:14A-8(b).

• The current connection fee is $2,274.00 (eff. 11/1/23) per EDU (Equivalent Dwelling Unit). An example of an equivalent dwelling unit would be a single family home. Questions regarding connection fees can be addressed by calling the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage Authority at 732-469-0593 and entering extension 224. Applicants must appear at the Administrative Office of the Authority, located at 50 Polhemus Lane, to pay the fee and receive a copy of receipt, which must then be presented to the township where the contractor or homeowner is connecting to the sewer system. Paying a connection fee to the Somerset Raritan Valley Sewerage does not qualify as payment for any additional connection fee required by the municipality.
